Beaumont Rivers have recently been tasked with providing a series of WFD (Water Framework Directive) Assessments and overseeing permit applications for works in the riparian environment.

This involves overseeing applications for Flood Risk Activity/Bespoke Permits and accommodation, transfer and impoundment licences from the Environment Agency for projects on main rivers, as well as Land Drainage Consent from District Councils on ordinary watercourses. Our experience in design, construction, and permitting mean that when we oversee permitting for your project, it’s hassle free.

If you undertake works that require a permit, it’s your responsibility to prove that they will not be detrimental to flood risk or the environment.

Our broad range of capabilities allow us to determine the physical, chemical, biological and flood risk impacts of any works, then provide any mitigations the project requires.

How we achieve

To establish these impacts and mitigations, we carry out detailed Flood Risk and WFD (Water Framework Directive) Assessments. Our WFD Assessments examine the status of the watercourse and the objectives of the River Basin Management Plan (RBMP) to help the undertaker and regulator understand the impact of any proposed work on the chemical, biological, and physical health of the water body, and any others that may be impacted.

Any works that do not align with the Water Framework Directive and RBMP can then be mitigated or changed to a solution that will benefit the environment and be accepted by the regulator.
